
Some 2200 metric tons of food supplied by the government and the World Food Programme were delivered to the government declared ‘No Fire Zone’ (NFZ) with the assistance of the ICRC. Around 7500 patients, those suffering injuries and their relatives were evacuated to Trincomalee and other places in 18 journeys, says ICRC official Ms. Sarasi Wijeratne. But the lack of potable water was a main problem, she added.
