බස්නාහිර පළාත් සභා මැතිවරණයෙන් සන්ධානයට විශිෂ්ඨ ජයක්
කොළඹ, ගම්පහ හා කළුතර දිස්ත්රික්කවල සමස්ථ මැතිවරණ ප්රතිඵලවලට අනුව බස්නාහිර පළාත් සභාව විශිෂ්ඨ අයුරින් ජය ගැනීමට එක්සත් ජනතා නිදහස් සන්ධානය සමත්ව ඇත.කොළඹ දිස්ත්රික්කයේ සමස්ථ ප්රතිඵලයට අනුව එක්සත් ජනතා නිදහස් සන්ධානය ඡන්ද 530,370 ක් ලබා ගනිමින් ආසන 25ක් ජයගෙන ඇති අතර එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂය 327,571 ලබාගෙන මන්ත්රීධූර 15කට හිමිකම් කියයි.
ඡන්ද 21787 ක් ලබාගෙන ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණ එක් ආසනයක්ද, ඡන්ද 18978 ලබා ගත් ශ්රී ලංකා මුස්ලිම් කොංග්රසය එක් ආසනයක් හා ප්රජාතන්ත්රවාදී එක්සත් සන්ධානය ඡන්ද 8584 ලබා ගනිමින් එක් ආසනයකටද හිමිකම් කියයි.
ගම්පහ දිස්ත්රික්කයේ සමස්ථ මැතිවරණ ප්රතිඵලයට අනුව එක්සත් ජනතා නිදහස් සන්ධානය ඡන්ද 624,530ක් ලබා ගනිමින් ආසන 27ක් ජයගෙන ඇති අතර එක්සත් ජාතික පක්ෂය ඡන්ද 236,256 ලබා ගනිමින් ආසන 10 ක් හිමිකරගෙන තිබේ.
ජනතා විමුක්ති පෙරමුණට ලබා ගැනීමට හැකිව ඇත්තේ ඡන්ද 21,490 කි. ඒ අනුව ඔවුන්ට එක් මන්ත්රීධූරයක් හිමිවනු ඇත. ඡන්ද 180,14ක් ලබාගත් ශ්රී ලංකා මුස්ලිම් කොංග්රසය එක් ආසනයක් හිමිකරගැනීමට සමත් විය.
කළුතර දිස්ත්රික්කයේ සමස්ථ ප්රතිඵලයට අනුව ඡන්ද 351,215ක් ලබා ගනිමින් එක්සත් ජනතා නිදහස් සන්ධානය කළුතර දිස්ත්රික්කය ජයගෙන ඇති අතර ඔවුන්ට මන්ත්රීධූර 14ක් හිමිව ඇත.

35,000 civilians escape, LTTE complete defeat imminent - President
More than 35,000 civilians fled the last area under the control of Sri Lanka’s cornered LTTE today, President Mahinda Rajapakse said, adding that the rebels’ “complete defeat” was imminent.
Showing aerial video from a military spy plane over the tiny area where the Tigers are staging a last stand, President said 35,000 non-combatants had crossed the lines into government-held territory since early this morning (20).
The President Mahinda Rajapaksa made a sudden visit to the Air Force Headquarters to observe the civilians cross over from war zone area to Government control areas.
“The footage clearly shows that the people are defying the rebels and escaping. They are running to safety. The process of the complete defeat of the LTTE has just begun, it is now all over for the Tigers,” the president said.

Britain and France issued on Thursday a strongly worded criticism of the Tamil Tiger rebels for preventing civilians from leaving the small conflict zone in the north east of Sri Lanka.
“It is clear that the L.T.T.E. have been forcefully preventing civilians from leaving the conflict area and we deplore their determination to use civilians as a human shield,” the British foreign secretary, David Miliband, and his French counterpart, Bernard Kouchner, said in a joint statement.

'We are disappointed with the Norwegian government' -SL Foreign Secretary Kohona
Sri Lanka strongly condemns the attack on its embassy in Oslo, Norway (Sunday 12) by suspected LTTE supporters, causing extensive damage to the premises and property."We strongly condemn this attack. It is a shocking incident and we are disappointed with the Norwegian government for not taking proper measures to protect a diplomatic mission right in its national capital. Luckily, no official in the mission was injured but the damage to the property is extensive," Sri Lanka Foreign Secretary Palitha Kohona said.He said the government was convinced that the LTTE was behind the attack. He said the mission was under threat from sympathizers of the Tigers for several weeks.As a host country, Norway has a legal obligation to protect the diplomatic missions. The negligence on the part of the Norwegian authorities in ensuring proper security to our mission can be gauged from the simple fact that the hooligans managed to reach it without any hindrance though it is located on the fifth floor," Dr. Kohona said.He expressed the hope that the Norwegian authorities, as obliged legally and under international conventions of diplomacy, would act to prevent any further acts of this nature, provide full protection to the Embassy, and required take stringent action against the criminals behind the attack to justice.

Lanka Govt. condemns attack on its Mission in Oslo
The storming of the Sri Lankan Mission in Oslo by pro-Tiger mobs has been condemned very strongly. Sri Lanka has urged Norway to take immediate steps to arrest those responsible and bring them to justice immediately.
Sri Lanka’s Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona said that Sri Lanka has condemned this attack on its Mission in the strongest possible terms and believes that in keeping with legal obligations, Norway should have ensured the security of the Lankan embassy in Oslo.
“We also express our strongest hope that the necessary legal measures will be taken to bring the criminals who committed this dastardly acts to justice. Again, in consistent with their legal obligation Norway should provide adequate security to the Embassy staff and to their belongings,” Dr. Kohona pointed out.
It is reported that a group of pro-LTTE Tamils living in Oslo stormed the Embassy building around 1.00 pm on Sunday. They broke open the main entrance door and inflicted heavy damages on the embassy.
So far no one has been arrested. It is suspected that all those who participated in the incident would have been recorded in the security and surveillance cameras installed in the building.

Troops to restrict ops. For New Year
The Sri Lankan Cabinet of Ministers discussed the possibility of going in for a humanitarian truce on April 13 and 14 for civilians to flee the safe zone. Reports just in say that President Mahinda Rajapaksa who had returned to the island from Libya has told the military to restrict military operations on Aprin 13 and 14, the Sinhala and Tamil New Year days.

සිවිල් වැසියන් 600 ක් රජයේ පාලන ප්රදේශවලට: හමුදාව ත්රස්ත බාධක ඉවත්කිරීමේ මෙහෙයුම්වල
අම්පලාවන්පොක්කානෙයි ප්රදේශයට බටහිර දෙසින් සිටින 58 සේනාංකයේ භට පිරිස් විසින් ඊයේ (අප්රේල් 10) ත්රස්තවාදීන් සිටි ස්ථාන කීපයකට පහරදී ඇත. මෙහි ප්රහාරයන් වල අරමුණ වූයේ යුධ මුක්ත කළාපයේ හිරකරගෙන සිටින සිවිල් වැසියන් රජයේ පාලන ප්රදේශවලට ගැනීමය.
ගැටුම් වලින් අනතුරුව භට පිරිස් විසින් ත්රස්ත මළ සිරුරු 9 ක් ,ටී-56 තුවක්කු 22 ක් , ආර්.පී.ජී විදින 1 ක්, පිස්තෝලයක්, සංනිවේදන උපකරන කට්ටල 3 ක් සහ ටී -56 අවි සදහා භාවිතා කරන උණ්ඩ 25000 ක්ද සොයාගන්නා ලදී. ඵමේනම ඉදිරි පෙළ සිටින ඉලක්ක වෙඩිකරුවන් විසින් සන්නද්ධ ත්රස්තවාදීන් 15කට සාර්ථක ප්රහාර එල්ල කරන ලදී.
මේ අතර ඊයේ දිවා කාලයේදී සිවිල් වැසියන් 606 දෙනකු ආරක්ෂාව පතා 58 සේනාංකයේ සේනාංකය වෙත පැමිණ ඇත. එම පිරිස අතර පිරිමින් 173, කාන්තාවන් 112 ක් සහ ළමුන් 321 ක් ද වූහ. ඔවුනට අවශ්ය ආහාර හා අනෙකුත් බෙහෙත් ද්රව්ය ලබාදීමෙන් පසුව ඔවුන්ව කිලිනොච්චියේ ඇති සුභසාධක මධ්යස්ථාන වෙත යොමුකරන ලදී.
යුධ මුක්ත කළාපයේ බටහිර දෙසින් සිටින 53 සේනාංකයේ භට පිරිස් විසින් ඊයේ ඔවුන්ගේ ඉදිරි සීමාවන් මුලතිව්හි ඒ-35 මාර්ගය දෙසට (පරන්කන්-මුලතිව්) පුලුල් කරගත්අතර නැන්තිකඩල් කළපුවේ උතුරු ඉවුර ප්රදේශයේ කොටසක්ද ඔවුන් විසින් අත්පත් කරගන්නා ලදී. ඊයේ පැවති සටන් වලින් අනතුරුව භටපිරිස් විසින් ත්රස්ත මළ සිරුරු 4 ක්, ටී-56 අවි 13 ක් සහ එම්.පි.එම්.ජී අවියක් ද සොයාගන්නා ලදී.

According to ministry, 10 SLLI infantrymen under the 58 Division have engaged LTTE's who were attempting to breach the forward defences at around 10a.m. Meanwhile, 7 SR troops operating North of Puthukkudiyirippu have uncovered 150 anti-personnel mines, similar number of hand grenades, 14 claymore mines and 8 bombs, security sources said. 5 more LTTE cadres were killed sniped in general area East of Puttukkudiyirippu by 10 SLLI and 6 GW troops, according to finalized military reports.
9 T-56 assault riffles were also found by 11 SLLI troops during separate search operations conducted in general area Ampalavanpokkanai, while a RCL weapon barrel was reported uncovered by 10GR troops North of Iranapalai.

A total of 270 civilians including 136 children have sought protection with security forces now positioned in general area Ampalavanpokkanai today (April 11).
According to military, 86 men and 48 women were also among the escapees who had managed to free themselves from LTTE hostage. Some civilians had sustained injuries due to LTTE small arms fire directed while fleeing from LTTE, security sources said.
The women and children have undergone unprecedented hardships and exposed to extreme torture the sources further said citing a few escapees.

Sri Lankan troops enter no fire zone
Sri Lankan troops nearing the end of their campaign against Tamil Tigers have entered the no-fire zone in the north, state radio reported Saturday.
Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation in its main English news bulletin said the army's 58 division led by Brigadier Shavendra Silva had entered Puttumatalan no-fire zone Friday evening.
However, the military is yet to officially confirm the troops' entry to the government declared no-fire zone for the safety of over 100,000 civilians from the minority Tamil community.
The army's 58, 53, 59 and task force eight divisions have been surrounding the area since Wednesday when the government announced its final notice to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) rebels to surrender and allow civilians to escape for safety.

Sri Lankan Armed forces have now undertaken the world’s largest humanitarian operation in the world, as the LTTE terrorists have taken thousands of civilians in the No Fire Zone [NFZ] hostage. Tamils living abroad say LTTE destroyed Wanni Tamils
Mrs. Rajeswari Balasubramaniam , a member of the team of Sri Lankan Tamils living abroad that arrived in Sri Lanka told The Island, though the LTTE designated themselves representatives of the Lankan Tamils they had only destroyed the life of the Wanni based Tamils.
Lankans "behead" Nehru statue in London
Protesting Sri Lankan Tamils are being blamed for beheading the statue of Jawaharlal Nehru outside India House in London this morning.Indian diplomats were informed of the statue’s desecration when they arrived at the premises of the High Commission in Aldwych this morning. The remains of the statue have been bound in a white sheet and are visible for all to see.
When contacted, India’s High Commissioner to UK Shiv Shankar Mukherjee said: “The statue has been damaged and the police are investigating. The police were there at night and they are on the job.”
Said Minister in charge of information at the High Commission, M. Subashini: “All we know is that the statue is broken, not how it broke.”
A spokesman for Scotland Yard said he was not aware of any formal complaint from the High Commission but said, “Any criminal damage will be investigated and the perpetrators prosecuted.” (Indian Express)
Thousands to march in London support of Tamils: Reports
Thousands of people are set to gather in London this weekend for a major protest march against the Sri Lankan government’s offensive against Tamil Tiger rebels and alleged human rights abuses.
Hundreds of Tamil demonstrators currently occupying London’s Parliament Square will see their numbers swell on Saturday for a renewed push, according to supporters.
The protesters say the lives of thousands of civilians are in danger and want the UK Government to take action.
The Sri Lankan government has rejected international calls for a ceasefire, claiming it is on the verge of defeating the Tamil Tigers, a separatist group which is fighting for an independent homeland.
Former aid worker Tim Martin, director of the Act Now campaign group aimed at stopping the war in Sri Lanka, said around 100 civilians are dying each day.
Sources have told him that poisonous gases are being used in combat, with victims suffering vomiting, blisters, breathing problems and extreme pain.
“This is why everyone is protesting,” he said.
“The protesters are really upset at what’s happening in Sri Lanka, they are really upset that the government is using illegal banned weapons and they will protest there until a ceasefire is agreed.”
Two young Tamil men, Sivatharsan Sivakumaravel, 21, and Parameswarn Subramaniyan, 28, have embarked on a hunger strike as part of the ongoing protest in London.
They have not consumed anything since 10pm on Monday, according to Mr. Martin, and will not until there is a ceasefire in Sri Lanka and humanitarian aid is allowed to the civilians in the designated ‘safe zone’ in the north of the country.
A sit-in by up to 5,000 people - including women and babies - forced the closure of Westminster Bridge on Monday night.

Charges filed against Vaiko for pro-LTTE speech
Chennai.MDMK leader Vaiko, a known Tamil Tiger sympathiser, faces police action over his alleged inflammatory speech supporting the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
An FIR was filed Thursday against Vaiko, a day after he warned of a bloodbath in Tamil Nadu if LTTE chief Prabhakaran was harmed.
"Charges have been made against Vaiko for spreading disaffection among people and speaking against the banned LTTE," an official, at North Beach police station where the FIR was registered, said.
Vaiko Wednesday said: "Prabhakaran lives in the hearts of Tamils. Tamils all over the world do not want even a small harm happening to him. If anything happens to him there will be a bloodbath in Tamil Nadu," he said.

LTTE shooting fleeing civilians
UN Under Secretary General Sir John Holmes said that although the LTTE leadership says that the Tamil civilians accompanied them into the war zone voluntarily and they do not want to leave, there are continuing reports of shooting at fleeing civilians, destroying boats to prevent them leaving and forcing them to fight against their will by the LTTE.

An old woman whom Balasubramaniam had met in one welfare camp had told her that in 1991 she gave food to the LTTE while she was in Jaffna but when she and her family attempted to escape from Tiger controlled areas she was attacked. She described the vessel Vanagaman due to arrive from the UK as a political ruse by the LTTE. The representatives of the Tamil diaspora also placed several suggestions before Presidential Advisor and MP Basil Rajapaksa to improve the living conditions of the residents of the welfare camps. She also warned government authorities that there could be LTTE cadres among those who live in welfare camps and therefore it is the duty of the government to prevent any recurrence of events of the past.

US calls LTTE to release civilians
The United States renewed its calls for the release of civilians forcibly held by the LTTE today (09). The discussion took place at the State Department with Ambassador Robert Blake speaking through via a digital video conference at the U.S. Embassy in Colombo.

LTTE threat to Sonia Gandhi and children
Worries are mounting in New Delhi about intelligence reports of the strong prospect of at attack on the Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi, her children, and other top political leaders of India by the LTTE, during the current election time in India.
The Indian Home Ministry has issued an alert urging the tightening of security when Sonia Gandhi and her two children Rahul and Priyanka, already among the most highly most highly protected public figures in India, canvass for support for the Congress party and its allies in the current campaign for elections to the Lo-----K Sabha.
Although the alert was not specific on the nature of the threat, security analysts in India see a major threat from the LTTE as the intelligence warnings say that Sonia Gandhi and her two children could be attacked because of India not pressuring Colombo to implement a ceasefire with the LTTE. The threat also covers other prominent Congress leaders.

No alcohol for Sinhala and Hindu New Year

All bars, taverns, restaurants and wine stores throughout the country were ordered to be closed on the 13th and 14th of April and Department of Excise launched a special programme targeting the coming week of Sinhala and Tamil New Year countrywide to control the production and sale of illicit liquor as well as the violation of Excise laws yesterday, Colombo Excise Department sources said.
The programme was initiated according to the concept of “To build a society sans alcohol and drugs”. As a result all officers would be summoned for duty during the season and offenders would be subjected to severe punishment.

Did Tamil Canadians fly Tiger planes to Colombo?
Were the pilots flying the two Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) aircraft that carried out the suicide attacks on Colombo recently foreigners? This question was floating around in the aftermath of the incident but later fizzled out.However, photographs of elaborate ceremonies to mark the pilots’ deaths held in Canada have raised the suspicions of the intelligence services over their origins. They are probing whether the two were Canadian pilots flying for the Tamil Tigers. Both planes were shot down by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).
Intelligence services say that there are strong indications that the two pilots could very well be Canadian nationals of Sri Lankan origin who gained entry to Canada as refugees and obtained citizenship

Sri Lankan Tamils on hunger strike in Oslo
Some 20 Sri Lankan Tamils held a hunger strike Wednesday outside Norway’s government offices which they blocked for the second straight day, urging Oslo to act in its role as mediator in the Sri Lankan conflict.
Norwegian television showed the hunger strikers camping out under tents raised in front of the office of Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, who is currently on holiday.
“Norway has let us down,” the Tamils shouted.
The demonstrators demanded to meet with a senior government official and urged Norway to call an emergency meeting of Sri Lanka’s aid donors to bring an end to the government’s offensive against a rebel holdout in the northeastern part of the island.

Loud explosions in NFZ after the final announcements
Several loud explosions have been heard in the NFZ soon after the army made the final announcement for the LTTE terrorists to release the civilians held hostage by them this afternoon (Apr. 8). The army has made announcements using loudspeakers positioned a few hundred meters short of the western border of the NFZ.
The army suspects that the terrorists have launched some sort of an attack on the civilians who tried to escape their rule.

Food delivered but drinking water a problem in NFZ: ICRC
Some 2200 metric tons of food supplied by the government and the World Food Programme were delivered to the government declared ‘No Fire Zone’ (NFZ) with the assistance of the ICRC. Around 7500 patients, those suffering injuries and their relatives were evacuated to Trincomalee and other places in 18 journeys, says ICRC official Ms. Sarasi Wijeratne. But the lack of potable water was a main problem, she added.

In February, Denmark also provided 10 million kroner in humanitarian aid to the civilian population affected by the war.

The Government has regretted the statement of the British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband in the House of Commons recently, expressing disappointment at the continued rejection of the appointment of the British Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Sri Lanka, Des Browne, says a media release by the Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry today (April 7).
Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama reiterated in Parliament today the Government’s position that the British Government had failed to adhere to the time honoured tradition in diplomatic practice of consultation and following the procedure in making the said appointment. The has been further vindicated by Mr. Browne’s participation in a conference in London recently, organized by a front of the LTTE terrorist group, at which it was resolved to establish a sovereign state of Tamil Eelam – the doctrine of the LTTE, proscribed by the UK – and his utterances in that forum.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton discussed the current crisis in Sri Lanka, the humanitarian conditions and peace process, during a meeting with her Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Stoere.In a joint media interaction after the meeting at the Foggy Bottom headquarters of the State Department, Clinton said Sri Lanka did figure up during their talks along with other issues. “We discussed Norway's untiring efforts to end the bloodshed in Sri Lanka,'' Clinton told reporters.
“Together, we are looking for ways to address common challenges such as the impact of climate change and a number of regional issues, from Afghanistan to the Middle East to Sri Lanka,'' she said. No further details were immediately available.
Norway played a key role in brokering a ceasefire between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE in 2002.

Three persons, namely, Nishantha, Saman and Sunil, sustained serious injuries in their faces and limbs and they were admitted into hospital. Nishantha had to undergo a surgery too.

Rajapaksa asks LTTE to surrender and free civilians
The military campaign against the Tamil Tigers was about to end, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa said Sunday and urged the rebel leadership to let free thousands of civilians and surrender to the security forces to avoid total annihilation.
Speaking to his party supporters at his tightly guarded Temple Trees residence, Rajapaksa said the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), unable to face the military thrust, was now hiding in the no-fire-zone, holding thousands of innocent civilians as human shield.
"The only option available for the Tiger leadership is to lay down arms and surrender to our heroic troops if it wanted to save the lives of the remaining cadres," radio Shree FM quoted Rajapaksa as saying Sunday evening amid loud applause from his party loyalists.

මියගිය කොටි සාමාජිකයින් 250කගේ සිරුරු සොයා ගැනීමට යුද හමුදාව සමත්ව ඇති අතර මියගිය අය අතර දීපන්, දුර්ගා, විදූෂා, නාගේෂ් යන කොටි නායකයින්ගේ මළ සිරුරු ඇති බව හඳුනාගෙන තිබේ.

LTTE fighting cadre face annihilation in Puthukkudyiruppu while terror leadership hiding in NFZ
The remaining LTTE cadres still forced to fight the Sri Lankan Army in the anterior of the No Fire Zone are now facing a total annihilation, as the soldiers are engaged in a man-to-man combat against them, in the last terror pocket in Puthukkudyiruppu East.
According to the battlefield reports, over 100 LTTE cadres were killed in yesterday's fighting (Apr 4), while the soldiers managed to collect at least 93 bodies of slain LTTE cadres by last evening. Tigers’ last sq. kilometer captured by troops
The remaining one square metre of the LTTE controlled area, apart from the government declared No Fire Zone, has been captured by government forces by this morning (April 5). Over 200 bodies of Tiger cadres have been recovered, says Defence Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella.
Entire Puthukkudiyiruppu area captured- Army
The entire Puthukkudiyiruppu area in Mullaittivu was brought under army control this morning, the Military said. The Safe Zone where the LTTE is now confined to together with trapped civilians is the only remaining area to be cleared.

THREE LTTE BOATS DESTROYED
Three LTTE boats were destroyed by the Navy and Army attacks in seas off Puthumathalan around 11pm yesterday.Ten LTTE boats had come to the attack and when one boat was completely destroyed the others had fled.
The Army, which observed their path, had attacked them at Alampili destroying another two.

Two LTTE suspects arrested in Chennai
Four people, including two believed to be Tamil Tigers from Sri Lanka, were arrested on Saturday, Tamil Nadu Police sources said. The four were arrested from the southeastern suburb of Thiruvanmiyur early in the morning and were being questioned by the Q branch - the anti-extremism wing of the police, they said.
The four men were identified as Jayanthan, 27, Guhan, 24, Jayanathan, 29 and Babu, 29. It wasn’t immediately clear who the two Tamil Tigers were. They were nabbed for their activities relating to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), police said.

Lankan peace rally in Australia attacked
Several people were injured when a major rally organised by some 2000 Sri Lankan peace activists in front of the Melbourne State Parliament was attacked by a group of LTTE supporters carrying LTTE flags this morning. United Natioms, 04 April: In a strongly worded statement read out by the UN Spokesperson Michelle Montas today, the UN Secretary-General again warned the LTTE leadership to allow civilians to leave the conflict area of their own free will’ adding that the ‘severe restrictions of the LTTE on freedom of movement violates international Law’.

Sri Lanka Navy's elite Special Boat Squadron (SBS) attacked an LTTE sea tiger boats in the seas off Alampil around 0130 hours on the 4th of April 2009.
The LTTE boat cluster numbering 10, which had been launched from the No-Fire-Zone in Puthumathalan, had comprised of 03 suicide craft and 07 attack craft. They had attempted to make a southward-bound move when the SBS personnel intercepted them and directed Naval gunfire completely destroying one Sea tiger craft and disabling another.Two other sea tiger craft which had attempted to beach being unable to counter Naval fire were destroyed by the Ground Forces who quickly reacted cutting off the sea tiger escape. The rest had fled back carrying their casualties and re-landed in the No-Fire-Zone taking cover of the trapped innocent civilians inside.
The Navy said three Naval craft received minor damages and two sailors were injured in the incident. The exact casualty figure of the LTTE is not known as at now. However, it is believed to be high due to the heavy combined fire directed at the LTTE by the Navy and the Ground Forces.

According to reports, the suspect, a man in his 30s wearing bright green jacket and glasses believed to be an Asian, entered the building and started shooting with a rifle.
Police have taken two suspects into custody and say situation is under control. But it is still not clear whether there are others involved still inside the building.
Nearby apartments in this city in western New York state were being evacuated. The condition of those shot wasn’t immediately clear.
